Journalist Sandugash Duissenova reported on social media about destroyed snow barriers in the Zhetysu region and published a video showing the structures lying on the ground for two years already. The object in question is located along the Usharal – Dostyk republican highway (111–114 km).
According to Kursiv.media, the national company «KazAvtoZhol» reported that the contractor – «ABK-Avtodor NS» LLP – installed 3,300 linear metres of barriers in two rows.
The facility was commissioned on 2 October 2023, but on 15 November of the same year the structures partially collapsed due to hurricane-force winds, reaching speeds of up to 34 m/s.
The director of the Zhetysu region branch of «KazAvtoZhol», Zhasulan Kaltayev, noted that the national company sent claim letters and a pre-trial claim to the contractor. However, the organisation refused to rectify the defects, citing extreme weather conditions. In connection with this, a lawsuit was filed against «ABK-Avtodor NS» LLP.
«KazAvtoZhol» emphasised that the faults are related to the contractor’s improper fulfilment of its obligations, not to the activities of the national company itself.
