Another incident involving a conscript soldier has been recorded in the Kazakh army. The young serviceman sustained serious injury during a morning inspection outside the barracks. The incident occurred against the backdrop of reports of another conscript's death just days earlier, once again drawing attention to conditions of service during peacetime.

WHAT HAPPENED

Information about the incident appeared on the Telegram channel of journalist Mikhail Kozachkov. According to his account, the soldier allegedly attempted to chop off his fingers with an axe after being reprimanded by his immediate superior.

The press service of the Ground Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed the fact of the injury, but presented a different version. It was reported that a conscript private "inflicted an injury to the fingers of his left hand with a metal object" during the morning inspection outside the barracks at a military unit of the Guards garrison. The victim was taken to a military hospital, where he received medical care. His condition is described as stable, with no threat to life or health.

WAS THERE A CONFLICT WITH THE COMMANDER

The Ground Forces deny any connection between the incident and the performance of official duties or a conflict with command, reports Ulysmedia.kz. According to department representatives, based on the serviceman's own account, the injury was self-inflicted for personal reasons and was not related to the actions of commanders or unit officials. The version that the incident occurred after a reprimand from a superior was described as false.

INVESTIGATIVE ACTIONS

A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident. The circumstances are being investigated by the regional military investigative department. On the orders of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, a special commission has been sent to the military unit. The department has urged people to refrain from drawing premature conclusions until the investigation is completed.

AMID OTHER INCIDENTS

The incident involving the injured conscript occurred shortly after reports of the death of another serviceman on compulsory service in Shymkent. Relatives of the deceased Daniyar Amalbekov reported that he was conscripted on 9 December 2025 from Taraz, and died less than a month later in a medical facility.

The press service of the National Guard reported that the soldier had sought medical help and undergone examinations in city hospitals. On 6 January, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. The preliminary cause of death was given as acute leukaemia. A criminal case has also been opened in connection with this incident, and the investigation is being conducted by the military investigative department.

CONTEXT AND SIGNIFICANCE

Criminal cases have been opened in connection with both incidents, and investigative actions and checks are underway. No further information on the causes of the incidents has been disclosed in the materials presented. The investigations are ongoing.
