The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported the death of a conscript soldier in the East Kazakhstan Region.

As reported by Zakon.kz, according to a preliminary version, he committed suicide.

"On 7 November, a conscript serviceman died in the Border Service Department for the East Kazakhstan Region. According to preliminary information, the cause of death is suicide," the statement said.

Law enforcement agencies have launched a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Incitement to suicide".

Meanwhile, ORDA, citing its own sources, reports that the 19-year-old soldier shot himself in the head twice with an AK-47.

It is worth recalling that amid the increasing number of tragic incidents in the army, Kazakh citizens created a petition calling for the abolition of compulsory military service. The authors believe that the abolition of conscription in Kazakhstan is becoming urgent due to the deaths of servicemen in peacetime. Just in September, we reported on five such incidents.

On 7 September, in a military unit in Aktau, a conscript soldier died as a result of a gunshot to the head. On 13 September, at the Military Institute of Land Forces in Almaty, a sergeant committed suicide. On 16 September, in Ars, a contract serviceman from one of the military units sustained a head wound from a traumatic weapon.

On 19 September, an officer from one of the military units of the Ayagoz garrison committed suicide by hanging. On 30 September, a contract soldier from one of the military units of the Aktau garrison took his own life in the apartment where he was living.

At the same time, the editorial team of FBRK tried to find out how many people have died in recent years "while serving their debt to the Motherland" today. We sent an official request to the Ministry of Defence asking them to provide data on the number of deaths in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The department's response can be viewed via the link.
