Veterans of the Great Patriotic War have received a one-off social payment to mark 9 May.
According to the government press service, veterans in all regions of Kazakhstan and the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent have received the payments to date. It is reported that a total of 187 million tenge was allocated from local budgets for these purposes.
The government also noted that the amounts of the one-off payments for 9 May are set individually in each region, depending on the capacity of local budgets and decisions of maslikhats.
"This year, the average amount of one-off social assistance across the republic was 1.5 million tenge. At the same time, in many regions, sums higher than the average were paid: in the Akmola Region – 3 million tenge, in the Aktobe Region – over 2 million tenge. In the Abay Region, Almaty Region, Karaganda Region, Pavlodar Region and the cities of Astana and Almaty, WWII veterans received 2 million tenge each", the statement reads.
It is also noted that a total of 148 veterans of the Great Patriotic War currently live in the republic. It has also become known that they receive a monthly special state allowance in the amount of 16 MCI (59,072 tenge).
Notably, if the so-called "average amount of one-off social assistance to veterans" (1.5 million tenge) is multiplied by all 148 veterans, then instead of the stated 187 million tenge, the sum would amount to 222 million tenge.
At the same time, it is worth recalling that informburo.kz previously reported that 293.6 million tenge had been prepared for payments to veterans. This did not include two regions, for which data was unavailable. Furthermore, it mentioned 161 veterans, instead of 148.
