The military court of the Akmola garrison convicted the commander of a mortar battery of the military unit in Karaganda for abuse of power.
According to the court press service, three servicemen were listed as victims in the case.
It is reported that at the beginning of the year, the battery commander ordered the duty personnel to tidy up the sleeping quarters. However, he was not satisfied with how they carried out the work.
"The defendant, having given the order 'To battle', struck the victims with his booted foot in various areas of the body, and then with his fist in the face. He caused the servicemen physical pain, humiliating their honour and dignity," the court statement said.
Furthermore, the following day, the commander struck one of the victims with his fist in the face and subjected him to various forms of abuse. As a result, the commander was stripped of his military rank and sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
It is worth recalling that earlier in Aktau, a serviceman of military unit No. 25744 beat new recruits on the head with a stool and a truncheon. A criminal case was opened against him, but was later closed due to a reconciliation between the parties.
