The wife of the akim of the Makat district of the Atyrau region, Akmara Umbetkalieva, has stated that her husband Rinat Ibragimov had been beating her for 11 years and even took away their children.
According to press.kz, the woman claims that in May 2023, Ibragimov raised his hand to her once again. Incidentally, he is a well-known athlete, a judoka, who participated in the Beijing and London Olympics.
"Rinat once again kicked and beat me in front of our children, while saying he would make me disabled. As a result, I suffered a fracture of the sacral vertebra and could not walk for a whole month. During this period, taking advantage of his position and connections, he illegally took my children away from me. I haven't seen my children for a whole year", Umbetkalieva recounted.
It is reported that the case has been sent to court under the article "Intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm". In turn, the akimat of the Atyrau region reacted to the news about their employee and launched an internal investigation regarding the judoka official.
"Previously, citizen Umbetkalieva had not contacted us. In connection with the revealed circumstances, an internal investigation has been appointed", the regional administration reported.
For context, it was previously reported that the wife of the advisor to the UAE ambassador, Saken Mamash - Karina Mamash, accused him of systematic physical and sexual violence over a period of 10 years. It was later reported that after the woman's statement, the diplomat was suspended from his position and a criminal case was initiated.
