On the instructions of the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, around 480 million tenge was allocated from the Special State Fund for the development of water supply systems in the Zhetysu region.

According to the press service of the government, the aim of the project is to improve the quality of life for residents of the regions through investment in socially significant infrastructure.
It has been reported that the allocated funds will be used to build 17 km of water supply networks in the village of Konyr in the Alakol district and 4.8 km of networks in the village of Umtyl in the Karatal district. It is expected that upon completion of the work, over a thousand people will be provided with a centralised water supply.
In total, this year in the Zhetysu region, 18 projects for the construction and reconstruction of water supply systems are being implemented. By the end of the year, the region plans to increase the level of centralised water supply coverage to 99.9% — this covers 329 settlements and around 697,000 residents of the region.
Earlier, over 2.2 billion tenge from the Special State Fund for Returned Assets was allocated to provide villages in the Kyzylorda region with high-quality drinking water.
