Anti-Corruption officers have detained the akim of the Ili district in the Almaty region, Bagdat Karasaev.
According to a source from the Telegram channel «CMN.KZ», the akim is charged with «Abuse of official powers (paragraph 3, part 4, article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and «Exceeding authority or official powers» (paragraph 3, part 4, article 362 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). It is reported that he has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
It has become known that he assumed the position of akim of the Ili district in September 2018. At the same time, in July 2022, Karasaev was a candidate for the post of akim of the Zhetysu region.
