Information is circulating online that law enforcement officers have detained Yerkin Kelessov, head of the employment coordination and social programmes department of the Zhambyl region akimat.
WHAT HAPPENED
The detention of Yerkin Kelessov was reported by several Kazakhstani media outlets simultaneously.
According to Ulysmedia.kz, the official was detained directly at his workplace. Afterwards, his office was closed and his phone is not answering.
As reported by Orda.kz, the case may involve the possible receipt of a bribe amounting to around 4 million tenge. According to preliminary information, the money was allegedly handed over in the official's office.

WHO IS YERKIN KELESSOV
Yerkin Kelessov was born in the city of Taraz and has a qualification as an accountant. He graduated from the Shymkent Vocational School and Dulati Taraz State University.
He began his career in the tax authorities, working as a senior inspector, and later held managerial positions. Over the years, he headed departments in Taraz and the Baizak district.
From 2016 to 2022 he ran the employment and social programmes department in the Zhambyl district. In 2022 he took up the post of head of the regional social programmes department.
In 2023 he briefly moved to the public procurement department, after which he returned to the social sphere. Since December 2023 he again headed the regional employment coordination and social programmes department.
