The US Treasury Department has added 275 people from 17 countries to its sanctions list.

According to Bes.media, the list includes the Kazakh company «Kazstanex». The American department claims that the company, together with the Uzbek LLC «Uzstanex», is involved in a scheme to supply certain machine tools to Russia.

It is reported that the Kazakh firm allegedly received goods from Europe, which then went to China for delivery to Russia.

Journalists have established that the head of «Kazstanex» is Vasily Abramov

«Two sole proprietorships under the name Kazstanex are also registered to him. The company is legally based in Almaty. It was founded in 2011. It is stated that the company is engaged in wholesale trade of a wide range of goods», the statement says.

At the same time, it became known that in 2017 and 2022 the company was recognised as an unfair participant in public procurement. In this regard, it was last fined 497 thousand tenge.

Recall that in February the European Union published another package of sanctions against Russia and companies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Turkey and other countries.

The lists also included the Kazakh LLP «Elem Group». It was suspected of «supporting the Russian military-industrial complex» and «participating in circumventing trade restrictions».

Shortly before the publication, the Ministry of Trade reported that the company has not carried out any import or export activity since last year and is in the process of liquidation.

In July, it was reported that the Russian financial institution Asia-Pacific Bank (ATB), owned by former President Nazarbayev, could be added to the US sanctions list.

In August, the company Catu Tech Ltd., registered in Astana, was placed on the US Treasury Department's sanctions list. The US State Department noted that the company had sent more than 30 shipments of chips and other components that could be used by the military industry to Russian counterparties over the course of a year.
