The Department of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition in Almaty conducted an investigation into LLP «Toyota Tsusho Kazakhstan Auto» regarding the imposition of additional equipment when selling cars.
According to the press service of the agency, in 2020-2021, the official Toyota dealer in Almaty sold more than 82% of cars with additional equipment installed.
It is noted that the cost of this equipment reached 3 million tenge, while the markup on certain categories exceeded 200%.
As a result, the LLP was brought to administrative liability in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of 88 million tenge.
To recall, in July 2022, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition caught major car dealers in Almaty imposing additional goods and services on consumers when selling passenger cars.
At that time, violations were found in the actions of LLP «Motor Company «Astana Motors» (Hyundai Premium Almaty, Hyundai Auto Almaty, Hyundai Premium Batys, «Toyota Centre on Suyunbai»), LLP «Orbis Auto» (Nissan Centre, Toyota City, Volkswagen Centre) and LLP «Toyota Tsusho Kazakhstan Auto» («Toyota Centre Zhetysu», «Lexus Centre Almaty»).
In November of this year, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition took antitrust measures against car dealers «Motor Company «Astana Motors», «Orbis Auto», «Mercur Autos», «Toyota Tsusho Kazakhstan», «Autocentre Aktobe», «Zhayik Motors», «Eurasia Motors Shymkent» and others for imposing additional equipment, accessories and other services on buyers.
