JSC «Almaty Electric Power Stations» («AlES») have been held administratively liable for violating antimonopoly legislation requirements and fined 4.4 billion tenge. The court decision was made based on the results of an investigation conducted by the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) department in Almaty.

According to the agency's press service, the investigation was initiated in order to protect the rights of entrepreneurs operating in the Almaty industrial zone.

"The industrial zone was created to provide state support for private entrepreneurship and is intended for the development of priority industries in the city of Almaty. There are 118 business entities registered on its territory, whose total investment exceeds 400 billion tenge. In order to reduce the costs of bringing in and consuming energy resources, the state has laid networks directly connected to the buses of CHP-2," the statement said.

It became known that the departmental investigation revealed that AlES obliged the energy supply organisation to purchase electricity with an additional service for transmission through the networks of an affiliated energy transmission organisation. At the same time, there were no city electrical grids in the industrial zone.

As a result, JSC «AlES» was brought to administrative liability in the form of a fine of 4.4 billion tenge. The ruling has entered into force, and the fine has been paid in full.

Recall that earlier, «Kazferrostal» LLP was ordered to pay an 11.4 billion tenge fine for illegally burying slag and storing scrap metal on the banks of the Malaya Almatinka river in Almaty.
