In Almaty, the Graff residential complex in the Yermensai microdistrict is being demolished after all. It was declared to be under illegal construction and ordered to be demolished by court decision.
According to the Almaty Urban Planning Control Department, the residential complex was built without permits on three plots of land.
In January last year, the department took administrative action against the client, issuing an order to rectify the violations. The authority later filed a lawsuit for demolition in the Bostandyk District Court.
In July, the district court decided to uphold the department's claim. In October, the appeals court left the first-instance court's decision unchanged.
Recall that it was previously reported that construction of the Graff residential complex had resumed in Almaty despite the court ruling. According to local residents, the local infrastructure is not suitable for servicing a multi-apartment complex. The only road leading to the residential complex through the private sector is very narrow. This, in their view, increases the risk of traffic accidents.
Furthermore, local residents said that the construction work could cause problems with electricity, sewage, and water supply.
