Almaty resident sentenced to 11 years in prison for incitement to bribery

A specialised inter-district criminal court in the West Kazakhstan Region has sentenced a resident of Almaty.

According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, he was found guilty of fraud and inciting a businessman to bribe officials of the regional akimat in the amount of 50 million tenge.

The bribe was intended to secure an advance payment of 30% of the total contract amount for the major repair of the "Chapaev – Zhangala – Saykhin" highway

As a result, the court found the Almaty resident guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in prison, with a lifelong ban from holding positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities.   

Earlier, in Aktau, a sentence was passed against former chairman of the city court Baurzhan Shaydullin and private bailiff Rinat Dzhankhmetov

They were found guilty of fraud and inciting a female defendant to bribe officials in the amount of 20 million tenge. The bribe was intended to secure a lighter sentence. The bailiff acted as an intermediary in the transfer of the money.
