The Almaty Construction Department has filed a lawsuit against the contractor LLP «Golden City DS». The department is seeking to have the company declared an unscrupulous participant in public procurement and to recover a penalty.
According to MIA «Kazinform», the construction of an extension to the Almaty State Pedagogical College No. 2 building in the Auezov district was due to be completed back in July. However, the contractor failed to meet its obligations on time.
The project involves the construction of two blocks connected to the main building by galleries. The extensions are planned to house classrooms with multimedia equipment, a laboratory, an assembly hall, a gymnasium, and a canteen. At the same time, the stadium is being renovated: a football field, volleyball and basketball courts are being installed.
The Akim of Almaty, Darkhan Satybaldy, stated that companies which miss deadlines will be excluded from participation in city projects, and in the case of serious violations, they will be held accountable by law enforcement agencies.
“Until this company completes the project, it cannot be allowed to participate in new tenders. The Urban Planning Control Department, together with the maslikhat deputies, will monitor the pace and quality of the work. In the event of violations, the company’s licence must be revoked. You promised to hand over the facility by the end of November — we will monitor this on a weekly basis,” said the Akim.
In addition to the college, the city head inspected a number of other construction sites. In the Altyn Besik microdistrict, the construction of a kindergarten for 120 places has been delayed due to adjustments to the routing of external utility networks: the previous location of the boiler house was found to be in the area of the future Tole Bi Street. Completion of the project is planned for November.
Also, in the 10th microdistrict, a new kindergarten for 160 places is being built. Satybaldy instructed to pay special attention to the high-quality equipping of the building. The kindergarten is planned to open after all necessary documents have been obtained.
