The Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region Nurymbet Saktaganov inspected the progress of the construction of the physical education and health complex (PEHC) in the village of Katon-Karagay, Katon-Karagay district, which has been unfinished for five years.
According to the press service of the regional akimat, the construction is being carried out by the contractor - QazConstructions LLP.
It has become known that to date only 90% of the work has been completed: in the sports and swimming pool complexes, as well as the laying of heating pipes and connection to the centralised heating supply.
"Work has been carried out on the installation of fire alarm and video surveillance systems, the replacement of interior doors and window units, and the finishing of internal premises," the statement said.
It is noted that the installation of pumps at the pumping station, landscaping, and commissioning works remain unfinished. The regional akim instructed that the construction of the PEHC be completed by the end of summer.
"Construction of the long-term project - the physical education and health complex, which began in 2020, should be completed by 1 September. In addition, it is necessary to landscape, clear of rubbish, and tidy up the area near the PEHC," the regional akim said.
It will be recalled that in September 2023, public activist and executive director of the public association 'Adildik Zholy', Didar Smagulov, reported that initially, in December 2021, 487.3 million tenge was allocated for the construction of the PEHC.
However, during the implementation of the project, regional officials concluded 10 additional agreements to the contract, increasing the amount to 666.4 million tenge and extending the deadline to December 2023.
Smagulov also noted that the court of East Kazakhstan, even considering the multi-million unfinished work, did not hold the contractor - QazConstructions LLP - accountable, but instead proposed mediation instead of punishment.
