The Aktobe Regional Court has authorised the arrest of the Akim of Khromtau, Sagyndyk Shabikbayev, for a period of two months.
According to Cmn.kz, the 40-year-old official, who has led the city for the past two years, is suspected of accepting a bribe.
The information regarding the preventive measure was confirmed by the court's press service. It was noted that the arrest has been imposed for the duration of the pre-trial investigation, and that other details of the case are not subject to disclosure.
Sagyndyk Shabikbayev began his career at the Aitekebi district branch of the RSE "Public Service Centre of Aktobe Region". He later worked in the office of the Akim of Aitekebi District and the office of the Akim of Khromtau District.
Since August 2018, he held the position of Deputy Akim of Khromtau. Shabikbayev was elected Akim of the city two years ago by a decision of the Khromtau District Territorial Election Commission.
