In Shymkent, an internal investigation has been launched after the emergence of a video recording featuring a person resembling the akim of the Karatau district.

Footage has been circulating on social media showing a man who looks like Almas Abaev striking another man several times.
It is not specified in the materials exactly where the incident occurred or when the recording was made. Nor is it clear what caused the conflict between those involved.

RESPONSE FROM THE SHYMKENT AKIMAT
The Shymkent Akimat has reported the start of an internal investigation regarding the circulation of the video recording.
The city administration emphasised that it adheres to the principles of legality and professional ethics.
"The Akimat adheres to the principles of legality, professional ethics, and the inadmissibility of any form of unlawful behaviour. If the facts are confirmed, appropriate measures will be taken," the city administration reported.
No further details of the investigation or possible decisions have been provided at this stage.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE OFFICIAL
According to open sources, Almas Abaev assumed the position of akim of the Karatau district in April 2025.
He is 35 years old, and originally from Ayagoz in the East Kazakhstan Region.
