In the Burabay district of the Akmola region, an inspection of land plots previously issued with violations is ongoing. Against this backdrop, fears have increased among local residents that the seized land could be used for the construction of a casino. Regional authorities have denied this information.
According to MIA "Kazinform", the issue of land seizures in Burabay has been repeatedly raised in the media. The Prosecutor's Office of the Akmola region stated that some of the land was allocated illegally.
In turn, the Akim of the Akmola region, Marat Akhmetzhanov, reported that the information about the construction of a casino does not correspond to reality. According to him, the sites for gaming zones have already been determined by a resolution of the government and local executive bodies, and the placement of any new such facilities is not being discussed.
The head of the region explained that several years ago, the regional akimat and maslikhat exceeded their authority: lands of the national park were removed from its composition and transferred to the jurisdiction of local bodies.
"There was a protest from the regional prosecutor, which, as the akim of the region, I upheld. And here the regional akimat acted as a violator of the law. We acknowledged that a violation had occurred, therefore we upheld the prosecutor's protest," the head of the region explained.
As Marat Akhmetzhanov clarified, a survey of lands in the Burabay district is currently underway. The seizures only concern those plots that were issued illegally, as well as land not being used for its intended purpose.
"Seizure only occurs by court decision, in accordance with the Constitution. If there are doubts, the court will decide everything. If the lands were issued before the creation of the national park in the village zone, this issue is not raised at all. There should be no concern here," the akim emphasised.
It has become known that 1,119 plots have been deemed disputed. If ownership is confirmed, the owners will receive title documents.
