In the West Kazakhstan region, a scheme to embezzle budget funds from the Centralised Library System of the Terekti district has been uncovered.

According to the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», an accountant and the chief accountant of the institution had been paying salaries to non-existent employees for over two years, transferring the money to their own accounts.

The total amount of damage was 45 million 990 thousand tenge. The Department of Economic Investigations clarified that the number of fictitious workers and their positions are not being disclosed due to the secrecy of the investigation.

It has become known that the Centralised Library System of the district includes 34 libraries. The average salary of a librarian here is around 164 thousand tenge.

Earlier, in Aktobe, a former chief accountant of two schools was convicted. It was reported that she inflated her own salary and received money through employees whom she asked to return the overpaid amounts.

Among those involved were three teachers, including a physical education teacher, as well as a mechanic and an electrician. In total, they handed over more than 21 million tenge to the accountant.
