In court No. 2 of Taraz, the criminal case of the deputy chief physician and the chief accountant of the city's multidisciplinary hospital was heard. They were found guilty of fraud.
According to the press service of the department, the defendants embezzled medical institution funds totalling more than 758 million tenge.
At the same time, the deputy chief physician legalised the criminally obtained funds, receiving income in the amount of 4.4 million tenge. The court found her guilty and, for the totality of crimes, sentenced her to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for 10 years.
The hospital's accountant was sentenced to 6 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for 10 years.
Recall that in August last year, the court in Atyrau announced a verdict against the management of City Polyclinic No. 4 and an entrepreneur. They were accused of embezzling 231.8 million tenge through fictitious provision of services.
Shortly before this, a verdict was announced in Almaty regarding the accountants of a city polyclinic. They were accused of embezzling budget funds. The damage exceeded 341 million tenge.
In July, it was reported that the head of the Republican Scientific Centre of Dermatology, along with his deputy, was suspected of corruption. This involved receiving a bribe of 5 million tenge from the head of the International Institute of Postgraduate Education. The bribe was intended for concluding a contract for the provision of services on professional development for medical workers.
Around the same time, a doctor from the capital's medical centre, Makishev, was convicted of receiving a bribe of 500 thousand tenge. The medical centre doctor received the illegal remuneration from a patient for performing a routine surgical operation.
In January of this year, information began to spread online that the director of the Zhambyl regional multidisciplinary centre of oncology and surgery, Aibaz Alikhanov, was accused of taking a bribe. It was reported that in 2023 he received 400 thousand tenge from a resident of Taraz for employing her as a nurse.
