At the Petropavlovsk CHP-2, SeverKazEnergo JSC, which is part of Central Asian Electric Power Corporation JSC (CAEPC), an accident occurred.

According to the press service of SeverKazEnergo, specialists have contained the damage and are now working on restoring the system.

"On 15 January at 06:32, a local failure occurred in the feedwater system near the deaerator at Petropavlovsk CHP-2; the automation system operated as designed, causing the shutdown of the station's main equipment", the statement said.

The station's operating mode was promised to be restored by 17:00.

"The plant's own needs and the circulation of the coolant, and therefore the heat supply to the city as a whole, have not been affected, but short-term minor fluctuations in coolant parameters are possible", the statement said.

It is worth noting that the main shareholders of CAEPC JSC are businessmen Alexander Klebanov and Sergey Kan, each of whom holds 47.1% of the shares of the company.

Recall that in March 2022, a chimney partially collapsed at CHP-2 in Petropavlovsk. One female employee of the facility died under the rubble. Two years later, the case was closed without identifying those responsible for the incident.
