The Abai region is developing a new master plan for the development of the Lake Alakol coastline. The region's akim, Berik Uali, announced at a briefing at the SCC the implementation of projects aimed at developing tourism and investment infrastructure.
According to Informburo.kz, the akim noted that it is impossible to fully resolve the accumulated problems in a single season. However, this year, 1 billion tenge has been allocated from the regional budget to create conditions for tourists and develop infrastructure.
Main areas of funding:
- construction of a fire station in the village of Kabanbay – 141 million tenge;
- creation of a new public space – 171.6 million tenge;
- repair of the Arbat – 108.9 million tenge;
- medium repairs to coastal streets – 229.5 million tenge;
- landscaping of the coastline – 107.5 million tenge;
- installation of piers – 41.6 million tenge;
- maintenance and sanitary cleaning of the coastline during the swimming season – 53.5 million tenge.
For the systematic development of the territory, a new master plan for Alakol is being prepared. It envisages the creation of recreation and tourism zones on an area of 1 thousand hectares, the development of recreational, public, business and residential areas, as well as improved transport accessibility, engineering infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
Furthermore, it is planned to merge the territory of the village of Kabanbay with the lake coastline, increasing the total area to 3 thousand hectares.
Among the investment projects is the construction of the Alakol medical and health complex with the participation of investors from Azerbaijan, as well as the creation of 100 prefabricated hotel complexes (glampings) by Chinese companies San Bao, Vanjan and Juding Group.
Previously, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev inspected tourist zones in the Almaty and Karaganda regions, as well as in the Zhetysu and Abai regions.
During that inspection trip, systematic violations were identified. At the Kapchagai Reservoir, Lake Alakol and Lake Balkhash, citizen complaints regarding the unsatisfactory state of tourism infrastructure, low service levels and a lack of necessary safety measures were confirmed.
Following the inspection, disciplinary measures were taken against the responsible officials.
