$90 thousand was attempted to be smuggled out of Kazakhstan by a foreigner

In February of this year, while checking in for an international flight "Atyrau-Kutaisi", a citizen of Georgia was found to be carrying $100,000 in cash. 

According to the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, $10,000 was discovered in the foreigner's hand luggage, with the remaining money found in his checked baggage.

"The concealed funds were discovered in the offender's baggage by employees of the 'Atyrau Airport' customs post <...>. The inspection was carried out jointly with officers from the Border Service and Economic Investigations departments for the Atyrau region," the statement said.

As a result, the court ordered the confiscation of $90,000 to state revenue, while the remaining $10,000 was returned to the Georgian citizen. He was also ordered to pay an administrative fine of 40 MCI (147,680 tenge)

The department also noted that, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On measures to ensure the financial stability of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the export of foreign currency cash exceeding the equivalent of $10,000 is prohibited.
