The "Almaty" Border Control Department of the National Security Committee together with the Almaty National Security Committee department have shut down a channel for the illegal migration of citizens of Afghanistan into Russia and subsequently into countries of Europe via the territory of Kazakhstan.
According to the press service of the agency, on 16 March, four citizens of Afghanistan were caught red-handed while attempting to bribe an official in the amount of $5,000.
It is reported that this money was intended to organise the smuggling of foreigners using forged passports of Spain and Portugal through Almaty International Airport.
"A pre-trial investigation is being conducted on the grounds of crimes stipulated by Part 1 of Article 394 and Article 367 of the Criminal Code. With the sanction of the court, a preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to the detained persons. Other information, in accordance with Part 1 of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, is not subject to disclosure", the statement reads.
