The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has prevented the supply of narcotic drugs on an especially large scale from Thailand.
"During an inspection of the 'DHL' temporary storage warehouse by employees of the FMA department for Astana, using a sniffer dog, three international postal items were discovered in the customs control zone, inside which narcotic substances - cannabis extract (hashish oil), with a total weight of 3.5 kg, were found", the agency's press service reported.
As a result, law enforcement officers detained four suspects and conducted searches at their places of residence, where they discovered stocks of marijuana weighing 787g, as well as items necessary for weighing and packaging narcotic drugs.
"A pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding this fact. A preventive measure in the form of 'detention in custody' has been authorised for the four suspects. In accordance with the requirements of Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, other information is not subject to disclosure", the statement said.
