The director of a humanities college embezzled funds intended for employee bonuses.
According to the prosecutor's office of the Mangystau Region, the head of the educational institution, from December 2022 to August 2023, issued unjustified bonus orders for 29 college employees, illegally appropriating funds amounting to 29.5 million tenge.
As a result, the Beyneu District Court sentenced the college director to 7 years in prison under Article 189, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property).
It is reported that the damage caused has been fully recovered in favour of the state.
For context, earlier in Saryagash, Turkestan Region, the director of secondary school No. 60, Bagdad Dosymbekov, and the chief accountant, Murat Ospanov, were sentenced to 7 years of suspended imprisonment for the embezzlement of 138,591,540 tenge.
