Court proceedings continue in Shymkent against accountants of budget and state institutions.
According to Ratel.kz, the former chief accountant of IT School-Lyceum No. 89 awarded herself 30,322,576 tenge between October 2021 and March 2024. The court sentenced her to 6 years in prison, but deferred the sentence for 5 years, as the convicted woman has two young children dependent on her.
In another case, the former chief accountant of General Secondary School No. 81 embezzled 64,295,513 tenge between 2021 and 2023. The accused admitted that he lost almost all the money playing cards and on bets at a bookmaker's office. The court sentenced him to 8 years in prison.
"He could not stop gambling, although he did still manage to get married and travel abroad. The damage has not been compensated. No property has been identified for confiscation. Sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment to be served in a medium-security facility", the report states.
In addition, it emerged that the chief accountant of Secondary School No. 129 embezzled 13,419,727 tenge between January 2022 and November 2023. The damage was compensated. Nevertheless, the court sentenced him to two years in prison in a medium-security colony.
Meanwhile, the chief accountants of the municipal enterprises "Turan" and "Zharyk Zhol" were previously convicted in Shymkent. According to the investigation, they embezzled nearly 100 million tenge. As a result, they were sentenced to 8 and 7 years in prison respectively.
Furthermore, Perizat Musayeva, who was hired as chief accountant at the Shymkent Plague Control Station in March of this year, faced court in a case involving inflated salaries.
It is noted that she took the post with a three-month probationary period, but this did not stop her from transferring an inflated salary of 16,435,509 tenge to herself within a month. Musayeva was only able to reimburse approximately 4.6 million tenge of this amount.
Ultimately, the Inter-District Criminal Court of Shymkent ruled the defendant's guilt proven and sentenced her to 5 years in prison with a ban on holding economic and managerial positions for the same period.
"One month is allocated for the voluntary payment of the civil claim amounting to 11,786,509 tenge after the sentence enters into legal force", the court concluded.
Recall that earlier in Shymkent, the head of the state institution "Shymkent Plague Control Station" Ratbek Sailaubekuly, the head of the branch of the state institution "Otrar Plague Control Department" Gulzhaina Abishova, and the chief accountant Shokan Zeilbekov were convicted.
They were found guilty of receiving and giving bribes for employment, as well as embezzling 2 million tenge by arranging fake travel expense claims.
