The prosecutor's office of the Almaly district of Almaty has uncovered the embezzlement of budget funds, carried out by unjustified payroll accruals in one of the city's schools.
According to the press service of the Almaty prosecutor's office, from January 2019 to August 2023, the chief accountant and the deputy director for economic affairs, abusing their official position, unjustifiably accrued payments from the state budget. The damage caused is estimated at 11 million tenge.
The perpetrators were sentenced to 3 years of restriction of liberty and banned from holding managerial positions in commercial organisations. The convicted individuals have fully compensated for the damage. It is reported that the verdict has entered into legal force.
Let us recall that earlier it became known that the Anti-Corruption Service of the Almaty region is conducting a pre-trial investigation against the head of the State Institution "Department of Education of the Ili district of the Almaty region".
She is suspected of embezzling 680 million tenge. The investigation believes that she accrued wages to fictitious workers who allegedly worked in secondary schools of the Ili district.
