A youth project on conscious resource consumption has been launched in Almaty

In community centres of Almaty, a series of meetings with young people has started, focused on combating wastefulness — from excessive spending on image to uncontrolled consumption of water and electricity. The project will cover educational institutions and youth centres of the city.

A company linked to Trump has received $1.6 billion for tungsten development in Kazakhstan

American company Cove Kaz Capital has received approximately $1.6 billion from US authorities for the development of tungsten deposits in Kazakhstan. These are the Severny Katpar and Verkhneye Kayraktinskoye sites in the central part of the country. If the project is granted additional funding, the total amount of US government support will reach $2 billion.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin commented on reports of mass closures of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) following the tax reform. On the sidelines of the Mazhilis, he stated that he sees no grounds for negative scenarios and considers part of the statistics to be taken out of context.

Responsibility for active participants of financial pyramids is being discussed in Kazakhstan

The Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) is considering administrative liability for active participants of financial pyramids who recruit new people. The agency clarifies that criminal prosecution is not applied in these cases. Fines, confiscation of rewards and recovery of unjust enrichment are being discussed.

Materials from a criminal case concerning five defendants, including the former chief architect of Shymkent, Arman Abdeshov, have been submitted to Court No. 2 of the city of Taraz. All of them are charged under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property on an especially large scale"). An additional charge has also been brought against one of the entrepreneurs.

Theft of over 600 million tenge detected in medical organisations of Mangystau

The Prosecutor's Office of the Mangystau Region has identified violations in the work of medical organisations in the region. Cases of fictitious services, discrepancies in staff qualifications and possible corruption actions have been established. In one organisation, the theft of over 600 million tenge is under investigation.

According to the informants, a scheme involving veterinary inspectors operates at the posts for $100 per shift.
