At the Pavlodar Aluminium Plant, during the night of 16 May, a partial detachment of material build-up occurred in the drying zone of furnace No. 3. At the time of the work, two employees were present in the workshop, both of whom sustained injuries.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the company's press service, the incident occurred at 23:10 during the cleaning of the drying zone of furnace No. 3. It involved a partial detachment of material build-up and its fall.
At that moment, two employees of the sintering workshop were in the work area — a mill operator and an agglomerator. Both sustained injuries of varying severity.
WHAT INJURIES THE EMPLOYEES SUSTAINED
As a result of the incident, the mill operator suffered a fracture of the right shin. He was taken to the regional hospital and hospitalised.
The second employee was diagnosed with a soft tissue contusion of the right shin. Following examinations, no fractures or loss of working capacity were found, and he was sent home.
The company reported that both victims received first aid immediately.
WHAT THE AUTHORISED BODIES REPORTED
"Employees of the authorised body in the field of industrial safety visited the site of the Pavlodar Aluminium Plant. Following the inspection, no signs of an accident at the hazardous production facility were identified," the plant's press service reported.
Furthermore, the Department of State Labour Inspection for the Pavlodar Region stated that they are investigating the circumstances of the incident. A final decision regarding the injury of the workers was promised to be announced later.
