In Karaganda, two workers from the contractor LLP «NS System» died while replacing a sewer pipe on Shakhtyorov Avenue.
According to the Telegram channel «Vechernyaya Karaganda», soil collapsed in the trench during excavation work. The workers were buried under the rubble and suffocated. They could not be saved, and resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
Following the deaths of the workers, police have opened a criminal case under Article 277, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan («Violation of safety rules during mining or construction work»). The penalty for this article carries 3 to 8 years of imprisonment.
The contractor stated that they will cover the funeral expenses. The circumstances of the incident are being established, and the investigation is ongoing.
To recall, earlier in the Ili District of the Almaty Region, an explosion of an unknown object occurred at a metal collection point, resulting in the deaths of three people.
Later, the owner of the enterprise, Amirbek Sherbayev, suggested that the cause of the explosion could have been an anti-tank mine.
