In Semey, a 20-year-old worker suffered a severe industrial injury — his arm was amputated after an accident on a construction site. According to media reports, he was carrying out work without an employment contract or safety briefing.
HOW THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED
The incident occurred on 11 April. The young man was allowed to carry out dangerous work without training or a safety briefing, reports Telegram channel ‘HALYQSTAN’.
While working with a tightening device, he sustained a severe injury — his right arm was torn off.
CONDITION OF THE VICTIM
The victim was taken to the emergency hospital (BSMP), where doctors amputated the limb above the elbow.
The patient has now been transferred from intensive care and is under medical supervision. He faces treatment, rehabilitation and prosthetics.
WHAT THOSE CLOSE TO HIM SAY
A woman presenting herself as the victim’s wife has stated on social media that the employer must be held accountable.
According to her, the violations at the construction site should not go without legal assessment.
HOW THE INVESTIGATION IS PROCEEDING
The accident is being investigated by the department of the State Labour Inspection Committee for the Abay Region.
As stated by the head of the department, Yerlan Niyatkabylov, a special commission has been set up in connection with this incident for a period of 10 working days. Its members include representatives of the state labour inspectorate and the employer.
According to him, the employer does not deny that the employee was allowed to work without training or a safety briefing. Following the results of the inspection, the materials will be handed over to law enforcement authorities for a procedural decision.
