In Astana, a Braille sign has been discovered in the building of City Polyclinic No. 1 that cannot be read by touch. This situation highlights concerns about the quality of implementation of accessible environment elements.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the Telegram channel “NEKhabar”, the sign is located in the toilet of the medical facility — City Polyclinic No. 1 in Astana, situated at the address: 24 Mukhtar Auezov Street. It features a call button for staff and text duplicated in Braille.
It is reported that the inscription rendered in Braille is not tactile. It has been applied using a printing method and lacks the necessary relief for reading by people with visual impairments.

At the time of publication, there was no comment from representatives of the polyclinic.
WHY THIS MATTERS
According to standards, Braille dots on such signs must be raised so that a partially sighted or blind person can read the information with their fingertips.
Its key feature is its relief. In this case, the absence of a tactile effect makes such marking merely formal and inaccessible for the target group of users.
