Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan has reported instances of citizens receiving calls from unknown individuals posing as clinic staff and requesting SMS codes and personal data. According to the ministry, such incidents have been recorded in several regions of the country.
HOW THE SCHEME WORKS
According to the Ministry of Health, information about such cases is being actively circulated on social media. These are calls in which unknown individuals pose as clinic staff and request SMS codes and personal data.
The ministry notes that such calls are not related to the activities of medical organisations. Moreover, clinic staff do not request SMS codes over the phone — these codes are used solely for authentication in digital services.
SAFEGUARDS
The ministry urges citizens to follow basic safety rules:
- do not share SMS codes or personal data with third parties;
- verify the accuracy of information received over the phone;
- in the event of suspicious calls, contact your medical organisation or law enforcement authorities.
It is also recommended that you independently verify your clinic registration data via the eGov.kz, eGov Mobile or Damumed services.
