A suspect in the attack on his mother with a knife has been extradited to Kazakhstan from Vietnam.

A citizen of Kazakhstan has been extradited from Vietnam to face criminal prosecution for causing grievous bodily harm. The suspect is currently held in a pre-trial detention centre.

HOW THE CRIME HAPPENED

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, a citizen of Kazakhstan is suspected of in November 2025, while at home and under the influence of alcohol, having stabbed his mother several times with a knife following a verbal altercation.

Afterwards, the suspect went into hiding from the criminal prosecution authorities to avoid the liability prescribed by law. He was placed on the international wanted list.

HOW THE SUSPECT WAS FOUND IN VIETNAM

During operational and investigative measures, law enforcement officers established his whereabouts on the territory of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In June 2026, the suspect was detained in the city of Da Nang. At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, he was extradited to Kazakhstan.

WHO TOOK PART IN THE EXTRADITION

The extradition involved officers from the Prosecutor General's Office and the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

WHERE THE SUSPECT IS NOW

After returning to Kazakhstan, the suspect was placed in a pre-trial detention centre.

The crime with which he is charged carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years. The suspect's final guilt must be established by the court.
