In the Zhambyl region, police officers have shut down a channel for the sale of cannabis group drugs. According to law enforcement agencies, this involves a lengthy investigation and the seizure of a large batch of prohibited substances.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DETAINEES
According to the police, four residents of the region were detained during operational activities. They are suspected of selling narcotic drugs on an especially large scale, reports Polisia.kz.
All the accused have been placed in a temporary detention facility. At present, it is clarified that they are additionally being charged with seven counts of drug sales. No further details about the identity of the suspects are provided in the materials.
WHAT SUBSTANCES WERE SEIZED
The following items were seized from the detainees' places of residence:
- dried marijuana — over 100 kg;
- hashish — more than 2 kg;
- cannabis resin.
The publication notes that the seized drugs belong to the cannabis group. No other characteristics of the substances are provided in the materials.
UNDER WHICH ARTICLE IS THE CASE BEING INVESTIGATED
A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation or sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances”).
The penalty for this article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
Law enforcement agencies are also determining possible channels for the supply of drugs to other regions.
