The families of those killed and the injured as a result of the accident in the Pavlodar Region will receive the necessary support from government bodies and the employer. Financial assistance measures have been provided for relatives, as well as additional social guarantees, which were announced after the incident.
WHAT IS KNOWN
According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, a special commission has been established on the instructions of the leadership of the Government to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident. The commission includes representatives from:
- the Ministry of Labour;
- the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES);
- the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA);
- the Ministry of Health;
- the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources;
- the Ministry of Agriculture;
- the Akimat of the Pavlodar Region.
WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING TAKEN
The commission has been tasked with conducting a full and objective investigation into the circumstances of the accident, establishing its causes, and preparing measures to prevent similar incidents.
The families of the deceased and the injured will receive the necessary support from government bodies and the employer. The company has announced that it has arranged for the payment of financial assistance, maintaining payments equivalent to the wages of the deceased workers until the end of this year, as well as the settlement of their credit obligations.
Furthermore, the employer will cover the costs for the maintenance and education of the minor children of the deceased until they reach the age of majority.
MINISTER VISITED THE SCENE OF THE INCIDENT
Minister of Labour, Askarbek Yertayev, arrived in the Pavlodar Region, where he familiarised himself with the situation on the ground and held a coordination meeting with the participation of the region's leadership and representatives of state and law enforcement bodies.
The minister also met with the relatives of the deceased, expressed his condolences, and informed them that the families would receive all necessary assistance.
HOW THE INCIDENT IS BEING INVESTIGATED
Law enforcement bodies have initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 4 of Article 156 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of occupational safety rules").
The progress of the investigation is being monitored by the Government.
CONTEXT
On 20 July, in the Aktogay District of the Pavlodar Region, on the territory of Aqtogai Milk LLP, an accident occurred, resulting in the deaths of 6 people. One other man was hospitalised with moderate carbon dioxide poisoning.
According to preliminary data, workers were repairing an electric pump in a sewer manhole. The youngest deceased was 16 years old.
