A resident of the Zhanaarka district, Ulytau region discovered an antique gun while renovating a recently purchased old house and voluntarily handed it over to the police. Ballistic examinations have been commissioned regarding the incident.

According to Polisia.kz, a local resident contacted the police department of the Zhanaarka district, Ulytau region. The man reported that he had found a weapon during renovation work in an old house. The citizen immediately handed the discovery over to police officers.

The police department noted that such an act demonstrates a high sense of civic responsibility and attention to public safety.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE FOUND GUN
During the inspection, police officers established that the found weapon is a smoothbore semi-automatic shotgun, the Browning Auto-5, designed by engineer John Moses Browning.
The model was created in 1898, and in 1905 it was adopted for use by army units and law enforcement agencies. It is also reported that this weapon was used during the years of the Second World War.
WHAT CHECKS ARE SPECIALISTS CONDUCTING
Currently, ballistic examinations have been commissioned regarding this fact. Specialists are determining the exact year of manufacture of the shotgun and are also checking the weapon for any possible involvement in crimes.

The police reminded that citizens who voluntarily hand over illegally stored weapons, ammunition, or explosives are exempt from criminal and administrative liability, provided their actions do not constitute another offence.
Police officers also urged residents to immediately report any suspicious objects found by calling 102. The department noted that old houses may contain potentially dangerous discoveries.
