In Atyrau, an adult man's online correspondence with a 12-year-old girl has become the subject of a court case. According to the case materials, the correspondent demanded intimate video recordings from the child and threatened to distribute previously obtained photographs. The court concluded that the actions may contain signs of a more serious crime and referred the materials to the prosecutor for additional investigation.
HOW THE GIRL MET THE MAN ONLINE
As reported by the Telegram channel «HALYQSTAN», a 12-year-old schoolgirl from Atyrau met a user named «Aza» on the dating social network «Daivinchik». The profile listed the age as 15–18 years old, but it later turned out that an adult man was hiding behind the profile.
Initially, the correspondence was of a normal nature. After exchanging a few photographs, the correspondent began asking the girl for more explicit video materials. When she refused, the man, according to the correspondence records, began to threaten to distribute the photographs he had already received and demand new recordings.
According to the case materials, the pressure from the correspondent led to a severe emotional state for the teenager. Before a tragedy could occur, the girl sent a voice message to her mother, after which the woman learned of what was happening.
WHY THE MOTHER DECIDED TO SEARCH FOR THE MAN HERSELF
The mother contacted emergency services via 102, providing the correspondence, threats, and the materials received. However, according to her, police officers stated that identifying a person's identity online was impossible, and the report was not accepted.
The woman then registered on the same dating network, listing her age as 13 years old, and soon discovered the profile of the user «Aza». After a few days of correspondence, the parties agreed to meet in person.
HOW THE MEETING WITH THE ALLEGED BLACKMAILER WENT
A relative of the mother went to the arranged meeting. On the way, the woman told the taxi driver about the situation — he decided to help.
When an adult woman, not a teenager, got out of the car at the location, the man realised what was happening and tried to flee. The taxi driver chased after him and waited for the police to arrive. As per the case materials, vigilante justice was avoided.
THE COURT REFERRED THE MATERIALS TO THE PROSECUTOR
Following the investigation, a case was initiated under Article 121-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan («Sexual harassment of persons under the age of sixteen»).
During the court proceedings, the court noted that the man not only made propositions of an intimate nature but also threatened to distribute photographs of the minor.
In this regard, the court concluded that the actions may contain signs of a more serious crime. The materials have been sent to the prosecutor of Atyrau to decide on conducting a new pre-trial investigation.
THE CASE HAS BEEN UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR ALMOST A YEAR
According to court materials, the proceedings in this case have been ongoing for almost a year. During the investigation, a procedural measure of restraint was imposed on the man — an obligation to appear when summoned by the investigation or court.
