A court in the Turkistan Region has sentenced a 52-year-old resident of Arys, Bibinur Kasimova, in a case involving a fatal road traffic accident. She was given 9 years' imprisonment, but the execution of the sentence was deferred for 1 year.

WHAT SENTENCE WAS IMPOSED

According to Ulysmedia.kz, the court found Bibinur Kasimova guilty and sentenced her to 9 years' imprisonment. In addition, the woman was banned from driving vehicles for life.

However, the court deferred the execution of the sentence for 1 year due to her having a minor child.

The court also ordered Bibinur Kasimova to pay the victims 35 million tenge.

WHY RELATIVES DISAGREE WITH THE DECISION

Relatives of the deceased stated that they consider the imposed sentence too lenient and disagree with the court's decision.

The victim Agaisha Manatova reported that her family lost three loved ones. According to her, the relatives continue to struggle with the aftermath of the tragedy.

The relatives announced their intention to appeal the verdict.

HOW THE FATAL ACCIDENT HAPPENED

The accident occurred in June in the city of Arys, Turkistan Region. A car at speed crashed into the brick fence of a private house, after which it ended up in the courtyard where people were present. Six people ended up under the wheels of the car. 30-year-old Aisholpan died on the way to hospital. Her 2-year-old son and the neighbour's 5-year-old daughter died at the scene.

Three more people sustained injuries. Among them were the mother of the deceased girl and her one-and-a-half-year-old brother. The boy was admitted to intensive care in a serious condition. Doctors diagnosed him with concussion, multiple rib fractures and a fractured femur.

Behind the wheel was Bibinur Kasimova, who worked as a teacher at a school. An expert examination established that the woman was under the influence of alcohol.

CONTEXT
