Police shut down brothels in Kokshetau

In Kokshetau, police officers have shut down brothels operating in rented flats. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the organisation and maintenance of brothels, as well as procuring. During searches, nearly 1.9 million tenge was seized.

WHAT HAPPENED

According to the Akmola Regional Police Department, officers from the Organised Crime Combating Unit shut down the brothels as part of operations tied to World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which is marked annually on 30 July.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the organisation and maintenance of brothels, as well as procuring.

WHAT THE POLICE ESTABLISHED

During the operations, two residents of Kokshetau were detained. In the course of searches, police officers seized 1,857,000 tenge, mobile phones and other items relevant to the investigation.

Also, as reported by the Akmola Regional Police Department, individuals who had been providing intimate services were identified.

The Akmola Regional Police Department noted that combating trafficking in persons, as well as identifying and suppressing crimes linked to the organisation of brothels and procuring, remains under particular scrutiny.

In the region, operational and preventive measures continue, aimed at preventing and suppressing such crimes. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
