In the Ulytau region, police officers have detained a group of individuals suspected of organising a major drug supply channel. Over 300 kg of cannabis was seized from illegal circulation, which, according to preliminary estimates, could be worth up to $3 million.
HOW THE DETENTION TOOK PLACE
According to Polisia.kz, officers from the drug crime prevention unit conducted operational activities on the Zhezkazgan – Karaganda highway. As a result, five people were detained, suspected of involvement in the transportation of narcotic drugs.
According to police, the detainees provided escort for the shipment, as well as performing cover and route coordination functions.
WHAT WAS FOUND DURING THE INSPECTION
During an inspection of the vehicle, law enforcement officers seized 13 packages of cannabis. The total weight of the narcotic substance was over 300 kg.
According to preliminary estimates, this volume could amount to up to 1 million single doses, and its approximate value on the black market reaches $3 million.
STATUS OF THE SUSPECTS
The detained individuals have been placed in a temporary detention facility (TDF). Other procedural details, including the classification of the offences and the relevant articles of legislation, are not specified in the materials.
POSITION OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS
Daniyar Meirkhan, Chairman of the Committee for Combating Drug Crime, stated that any attempts to organise and distribute drugs will be suppressed within the framework of current legislation.
According to him, work to identify and eliminate such channels is ongoing.
