МВД пообещало отменить штрафы за скорость из-за сбоя в системе

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported a technical failure in the «ERAP» information system of the General Prosecutor's Office, due to which some fines for average speed violations were mistakenly issued as instantaneous speeding offences. The department stated that such notices have already been identified and will be cancelled automatically.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE NOTICES

As reported by the chairman of the MIA Administrative Police Committee, Murat Kabdenov, the technical failure occurred during the automatic generation of notices in the «ERAP» information system of the General Prosecutor's Office between 13 and 14 August. As a result, the system recorded some average speed violations on highways in a different format — as instantaneous speeding offences.

The MIA stressed that this applies only to notices that were mistakenly generated precisely because of the aforementioned technical failure.

DO DRIVERS NEED TO CONTACT THE POLICE

Drivers who have received such notices do not need to contact the police themselves or prove the fact of a technical error. According to the MIA, all mistakenly generated notices have already been identified and will be cancelled automatically.

Thus, the cancellation of such fines does not require any additional action from drivers.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ALREADY PAID FINES

Separately, the MIA reported on drivers who have already paid the mistakenly generated fines. The department is currently working with colleagues on a mechanism for refunding the amounts paid.

CONTEXT

Earlier, drivers in the Almaty region complained about the large number of fines issued after the automatic recording of traffic violations. One motorist reported 14 fines in a single day, while another reported four orders within a week totalling around 50,000 tenge.
