In the town of Ayagoz, Abai region, an error was identified in the settings of an automatic traffic violation recording system, which led to 172 people being illegally subjected to administrative penalties. All issued orders have been cancelled, and refunds of paid fines to vehicle owners have begun.
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE FOUND
According to the prosecutor's office of the Abai region, the violations were discovered during supervisory activities by the prosecutor's office of the Ayagoz district.
It was established that on one of the streets in the town of Ayagoz, with a permitted speed limit of 60 km/h, the threshold value in the automatic system's settings was mistakenly set to 40 km/h. As a result, the system recorded violations that did not actually occur.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED BY THE ERROR
Due to the incorrect settings, 172 people were illegally subjected to administrative penalties.
Following a prosecutor's supervisory response, all illegally issued orders were cancelled. The refund of money paid as fines has also been organised.
To date, more than 800 thousand tenge has already been returned to vehicle owners. The work to recover the funds is ongoing.

The prosecutor's office of the Abai region explained that upon detecting cases of illegal administrative penalties, citizens have the right to contact authorised state bodies or prosecutor's offices for measures to restore their violated rights.
