The FBRK editorial team received a video from Turana Avenue near the Sport City residential complex in Astana. The footage shows a contradictory traffic management arrangement on a section with a bus lane.
WHAT RAISES QUESTIONS
On top of the old yellow bus lane markings, a white broken line has been applied. Visually, it appears to permit cars to drive or change lanes into this lane, and drivers continue to move along it.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the section, a crossed-out bus lane sign appears, which usually indicates the end of the dedicated lane. However, after some time, the corresponding sign is reinstalled.
The combination of old and new markings, along with the sequential change of road signs, creates an ambiguous perception of the traffic layout. Consequently, drivers may be unclear about exactly when the bus lane ends or resumes.

CONTEXT
Previously, the FBRK editorial team had already published materials about problematic road markings in Astana. Following publications regarding Mangilik El Avenue, the transport department acknowledged errors in the application of the lines, and the police reported that cameras temporarily did not record violations during the period of work.
ENQUIRIES TO STATE BODIES
The FBRK editorial team is preparing enquiries to the relevant authorities, requesting clarification of the traffic management on this section and confirmation of whether the applied markings comply with current requirements.
