Residents of the village of Shelek in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region are complaining about the lack of lighting at the exit from the "Arman" overpass onto the "Almaty – Shelek – Khorgos" highway.
According to the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN", travelling on this section in the dark poses a serious safety threat.
The police department acknowledged that the lighting poles were temporarily dismantled to allow the passage of specialised vehicles transporting wind turbine blades.
However, local residents claim that the poles were not carefully dismantled but simply knocked down — the pipes were left lying on the roadside as if they had been ripped out by the roots.
According to the villagers, their complaints have turned into a bureaucratic correspondence: the Ministry of Transport forwarded the appeals to the Road Committee, which then sent them to JSC "NC "KazAvtoZhol", and from there everything went to the company's Almaty branch.
In the road authorities' response, it is stated that the lighting has been "restored". Photos were attached to the letter which, according to residents, do not reflect reality. According to the documents, everything works, but in reality the section remains in darkness.
Officials also promised to install "Dangerous Bend" road signs and a "Speed Limit 60 km/h" sign by the end of the month, but the villagers do not believe them, as such assurances have been made several times before.
