Based on the results of the first half of 2026, Kazakhs bought 105,886 new passenger and commercial vehicles, almost matching the record result of the same period last year. In June alone, official dealers sold 21,861 vehicles, which is 12.5% more than the previous year.

WHAT WERE THE RESULTS OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR
According to data from the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, over the first six months of 2026 the new car market remained at a record level. Total sales volume increased by 0.9% compared to the same period last year — from 104,953 to 105,886 vehicles.
The organisation's president, Anar Makasheva, noted that despite the almost unchanged sales volume, noticeable changes are occurring within the market. According to her, competition between automakers is intensifying, and buyers are increasingly considering not only the cost of the vehicle but also the level of technology and quality of service.
WHICH BRANDS BECAME LEADERS
Based on the results of the first half of the year, Chevrolet took first place in sales, having sold 17,586 vehicles. In second place was Hyundai with a result of 17,247 vehicles, and third place went to Kia, whose sales amounted to 12,332 vehicles.
Changan showed the highest growth. The brand's sales increased by 89.2%, reaching 9,471 vehicles, which allowed it to rise to fourth place in the overall ranking. Chery rounded out the top five with a result of 8,143 vehicles.
WHICH MODELS WERE IN HIGHEST DEMAND
The most sought-after model on the Kazakh market remains the Chevrolet Cobalt. In the first half of the year, 16,370 such vehicles were sold.
Second place went to the Hyundai Tucson with a result of 8,601 vehicles, third to the Kia Sportage, whose sales amounted to 5,200 vehicles.
The top ten most popular models also included the Changan CS55 Plus, Hyundai Mufasa, Haval Jolion, Changan CS35 Max, Chery Tiggo 2, Haval M6, and Chery Tiggo 7.
HOW THE MARKET CHANGED IN JUNE
In June 2026, the sales leader was Chevrolet, whose official dealers sold 3,117 vehicles. This was followed by Hyundai (3,034), Changan (2,565), Chery (1,996), and Haval (1,677).
It is noted that despite a slowdown in growth rates after two record years, demand for new cars in Kazakhstan remains consistently high, and competition between brands continues to intensify.
