1 June 2026, the head of the Uralsk City Territorial Inspectorate in the West Kazakhstan Region (WKR) was detained while accepting a bribe. The criminal prosecution is being conducted by the Anti-Corruption Service of the Department of the National Security Committee (NSC) for the WKR.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT THE DETENTION
According to lawyer Bauyrzhan Zaki, the detention took place on 1 June while accepting a bribe from a farm. It is reported that the person in question is the head of the Uralsk City Territorial Inspectorate.
The position of head of the inspectorate is held by Abylai Mukayev. The supervisory body is the territorial inspectorate of the WKR, headed by Marat Utaraliyev. The central authority is the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, chaired by Kazbek Tashimov.

As reported by Bauyrzhan Zaki, the criminal prosecution is being carried out by the Anti-Corruption Service of the NSC Department for the WKR.
However, no official information from the agencies had been received at the time of publication.
WHAT SENTENCES HAVE ALREADY BEEN HANDED DOWN IN CORRUPTION CASES IN THE VETERINARY SECTOR
In 2024, the chief specialist of the WKR territorial inspectorate, Yastaui Musagaliyev, was found guilty by the court under Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CC RK) (“Receiving a bribe”). He was fined 24 million tenge. He had received 400,000 tenge for the illegal border passage of vehicles carrying meat and livestock.
Under the same verdict of 19 September 2024, the veterinary inspector of the WKR territorial inspectorate, Talgat Aisiyev, was found guilty under Article 366 of the CC RK and fined 7.8 million tenge. The bribe amount was 130,000 tenge.
Another verdict was handed down on 29 September 2025 against the director of the veterinary station of the Burlin district, Zhanbulat Makhmudov. The court found him guilty under Article 366 of the CC RK and imposed a fine of 6 million tenge. According to the court, he received 200,000 tenge for the illegal registration of 20 horses.
