Cуд в Астане признал мужчину виновным в сталкинге бывшей жены

A court in Astana found a man guilty of systematically stalking his former wife, which continued for several years and was accompanied by aggressive behaviour. He was sentenced to community service.

HOW THE EVENTS UNFOLDED

According to the prosecutor's office of Baikonyr District, after the dissolution of the marriage, the convicted man stalked his ex-wife for several years. Despite her refusal to communicate, he came to her home, damaged the front door, and illegally entered the apartment several times.

The victim, fearing further actions, was forced to leave her home and temporarily live with her mother. However, even there, the man continued to appear, behaved aggressively, and provoked conflicts.

WHICH ACTIONS WERE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL

According to the case materials, the man regularly called and sent messages from unknown numbers. His actions were intrusive and frightening in nature.

As a result, the victim experienced constant fear for her life and safety. This, it is noted, significantly limited her freedom of movement and daily activities.

WHAT PUNISHMENT THE COURT IMPOSED

By the court's verdict, the man was found guilty and sentenced to 100 hours of community service.

The prosecutor's office reminded that criminal liability is provided for illegal stalking. Penalties include:

  • a fine of up to 200 MCI,
  • corrective labour of the same amount,
  • community service of up to 200 hours,
  • or arrest for up to 50 days.

CONTEXT

Criminal liability for stalking in Kazakhstan was introduced from July 2025.

Since the criminalisation of stalking, 51 criminal cases have been referred to court, and suspects in 36 cases have been placed in temporary detention facilities (IDF).
